Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that political parties winning public mandate cannot be made hostages by few thousand protestors.
The Prime Minister gave these remarks during a visit to senior journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami’s house to condole his sister’s death.
Talking exclusively to Dunya News, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government will not tolerate any undemocratic step.
He said that lawful demands of the protesting parties have already been accepted.
“Demand regarding electoral reforms was already accepted and we also offered formation of a judicial commission to probe (electoral rigging),” he said.
He said ongoing protests have caused massive damage to the country’s economy. These sit-ins have badly affected the development projects, he added.
The Prime Minister said that country is going through a tumultuous situation which will end soon.
He asserted that doors to dialogue will always remain open.
