CHARLOTTE, NC. — Kenny still is frustrated. He drives for Uber and Lyft, and every time he fills up his tank it’s about $75. Still questions if he wants to drive for the ride-sharing companies anymore.

“We’re doing the same amount of work, but at the end of the day we’re getting less pay because the gas prices continuously go up,” says Still.

Charitable organizations are also feeling the burn as demand increases. Loaves and Fishes and Friendship Trays delivers meals to those in need. Tina Postel is the CEO. She says they’ve experienced a 20% increase in overall expenses, including gas.

“Whether it be groceries or a hot meal to someone’s doorstep, we have over 54 routes that run just for our friendship trays, and every route is driven by a volunteer. So it’s not just that volunteer donating their time, they’re now donating their gas dollars as well,” Postel says.

Kingdom City Church will be giving away $10,000 worth of FREE gas to the community at Mobil Gas Station on Brookshire Blvd.  Volunteers are needed for this community event.
